These targets support Euronext\u2019s recently announced \u00ab\u00a0Fit for 1.5\u00b0\u201d commitment to net zero through the \u201cBusiness Ambition for 1.5\u00b0\u201d initiative\u00a0in partnership with the United Nations Climate Change \u201cRace to Zero\u201d campaign. Euronext\u2019s ESG commitment is a key pillar of Euronext\u2019s \u201cGrowth for Impact 2024\u201d strategic plan announced in November 2021. Euronext is expecting to obtain validation of the targets by the SBTi by the end of 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Euronext\u2019s science-based climate targets\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SV1M-r9NA8w?start=58&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setting Euronext\u2019s long-term targets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applying the SBTi methodology to Euronext\u2019s emissions leads to the formulation of the following targets:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Operational emissions contraction target<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By 2030, Euronext will reduce its&nbsp;<strong>Scope 1 and Scope 2<\/strong>&nbsp;market-based greenhouse gas emissions&nbsp;<strong>by 70%<\/strong>&nbsp;compared to 2020;<\/li><li>By 2030, Euronext will reduce its&nbsp;<strong>Scope 3<\/strong>&nbsp;travel emissions by at least&nbsp;<strong>46.2%<\/strong>&nbsp;compared to 2019.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Supplier engagement target<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By 2027, Euronext suppliers, representing 67% of Euronext\u2019s greenhouse gas emissions derived from purchased goods and services, must set science-based targets on their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These emissions reduction or contraction targets cannot be achieved through the purchase of offsetting credits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Roadmap to achieving these targets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Scope 1 emissions will be reduced through consolidation and energy efficiency upgrades in the building portfolio, energy efficiency investments, decommissioning of gas-fired boilers and decarbonisation of the vehicle fleet;<\/li><li>Scope 2 emissions will be reduced by moving office space and data centres to renewable energy, including through the move of Euronext\u2019s Core Data Centre to the Aruba Data Centre near Bergamo, Italy. The new Core Data Centre is powered 100% by renewable energy sources and self-produces energy through solar panels and its own hydroelectric power stations;<\/li><li>Travel emissions will be reduced by implementing a sustainable travel programme;<\/li><li>Euronext will engage its key suppliers directly and will deploy a new supplier onboarding platform, which will support the \u2018Euronext Supplier Code of Conduct\u2019, including provisions regarding environmental protection, human rights, diversity and inclusion;<\/li><li>Euronext will engage its staff through Climate Workshops, organised in partnership with Climate Fresk, which aim to develop awareness and ability to act by keeping environmental impacts in mind, at both individual and company level.
