Making progress on climate action
In 2024, we faced global challenges like climate change, geopolitical conflicts, inflation, and higher living costs. Despite these challenges, we remained committed to our vision of creating a better everyday life for many people. In FY24, we introduced our strengthened climate agenda, Net Zero and Beyond.

The IKEA Climate Report FY24, issued by the Inter IKEA Group, summarises our performance during FY24 compared to the IKEA climate commitments leading to 2030. The climate commitment is a key element of the IKEA Sustainability Strategy. This report covers the entire value chain and franchise system and provides an update on activities and the ongoing work to measure progress.
In FY24, our total emissions were 5% lower than the previous year and 28% lower than our baseline year, FY16. This reduction is mainly due to increased use of renewable energy, improved energy efficiency, and a growing share of renewable electricity. Lower production volumes also contributed to the reduction. We continue to work on our material agenda, which accounts for the largest part of our footprint.
The reporting period follows the financial year 2024, which runs from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024. Percentages in this report may not total 100% due to rounding differences.
